Hot Work Procedure

In the event of a ship’s master or ship’s agent requiring hot work to be undertaken on a vessel under his control, permission MUST be obtained from Associated British Ports’ Marine department at the location in which it is intended to carry out the hot work.

In the event of the local ABP Marine Department being unavailable then permission MUST be obtained from Severn VTS at Cardiff.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES must hot work proceed until permission has been given in writing by Associated British Ports and received by the Ship’s Master.

IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY of the Ship’s Master to issue a Permit to Work for Hot Work and NOT Associated British Ports
