The webcam shows the view over Queen Alexandra Dock (QA Dock) from Severn VTS's office on the third floor of Queen Alexandra House, Cardiff.
To the right of the image are berths on the south side of QA Dock used by oil tankers, general cargo vessels and container vessels.
To the left of the image are berths on the north side of QA Dock used by general cargo vessels carrying steel, forest produce and quarried materials. Small to medium size Cruise liners may be sighted on the berth nearest to the webcam.
At the centre of the image in the foreground is Cargo Road with Queen Alexandra Lock, the port's sea lock connection to the Bristol Channel, on the right. In the background may be seen King's Wharf used principally as a tug berth and behind it Cardiff's dedicated Cold Store.
